Director of Music Ministry

Job Description

We are looking for an individual who will develop and lead the music ministry in consultation and partnership with the pastoral staff, in a way that is consistent with the vision and theology of First Baptist Church.
 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role may include, but are not limited to:

• Overseeing the music ministry as it pertains to Sunday worship services, including serving on worship teams and coordinating with worship team leaders, promoting and overseeing the development of corporate worship, developing and managing a canon of blended worship music, leading worship teams in rehearsal and assisting in planning Sunday AM/PM services

• Participating in the creative planning of special services with the pastoral staff (ie. Christmas, Good Friday, Easter, etc.)

• Recruiting and training new musicians and vocalists to serve in the music ministry (worship teams, special music, etc.)

• Providing oversight with regard to the technical areas of the worship ministry, including coordinating with the technology committee, audio staff and live stream and radio ministries

• Overseeing the dispersion of funds for the purchase of new equipment, maintenance of all instruments and special training for staff

• Coordinating special music events (concerts, choir presentations, major productions, etc.)

• Assisting with music at Super 60s (First Baptist Church seniors ministry) when necessary,including planning special music ministry

• Mediating potential conflicts/challenges within the music ministry, in consultation with thepastoral staff when necessary

Qualifications

• Authentic and growing relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord

• A commitment to adhering to the doctrinal statement and constitution of First Baptist Church and to the church’s vision, leadership and people

• Current member or application for church membership required

• Ability to work well with a team and under the authority of the pastoral staff

• Strong leadership skills

• Love and respect for people

• Positive attitude

• Dependable, responsible, self-motivated and creative

• Attested musical skills and competence

• Formal music training is preferred

• Familiarity with a variety of musical styles

• Experience serving in church-related setting in some capacity
